Creative Cairns: Learning Through Nature
P3 took advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy their Forest Schools programme in the Discovery Garden 🌿☀️
We explored building stone cairns – man-made towers of natural stones, often used as landmarks or memorials. This activity encouraged a wide range of skills including balance, sorting, understanding shape and size, as well as developing both gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and concentration.
The children did brilliantly! Many successfully built cairns 5 stones high, with some even challenging themselves to reach 7 stones. Others showed fantastic creativity by adding their own artistic touches and decorations.
A wonderful session full of teamwork, focus, and imagination – well done, P3! 🌟
