Planning to travel outside NI over Easter?

22nd Mar 2021

F.A.O

All parents, please be aware that if you are travelling outside NI during the Easter break there may be a requirement for your child to isolate for ten days on their return to the country. This includes trip to the Republic of Ireland and mainland UK. If you are arriving into Northern Ireland from within the Common Travel Area (the Republic of Ireland, Great Britain, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands) and you plan to remain here for at least 24 hours, you must self-isolate upon arrival for 10 days in the same way as international arrivals.

The Restart guidance from the Education Authority states that:

  • "Where it is clear to a Principal that such an individual has been:
in a location that requires 10 days quarantine on return (10 days self-isolation
is required for all individuals travelling to or returning to Northern Ireland)

In line with their general duty of care for all pupils and staff, the Principal should
inform them that they cannot attend the school until the required period of self-isolation has been completed."

There is a possibility that guidance may change before the end of the Easter break but this information reflects the current position.
