CRUMLIN IPS NEWSLETTER-OCTOBER 2021

This newsletter is very important!

We have a very busy week ahead as we end this half term and it is important that you are aware of everything that is happening!

PARENT CONSULTATIONS

Our consultations with parents will take place each afternoon next week. Your child’s class teacher should have made an appointment to speak with you by telephone.

Please be aware that each teacher has a lot of calls to get around and they are time limited for each call. The teacher will probably call you from a withheld number.

TREE PLANTING CEREMONY

On Thursday,21st October we will be holding a special tree planting ceremony in school. Schools around Northern Ireland will be given a tree to commemorate the centenary of the country. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we need to hold our tree planting ceremony on Thursday afternoon. This means that pupils in Years 3-7 will need to stay in school until 3pm! We are sorry that we need to make this change to our previously arranged finish time!

The main reason that we need to carry out our tree planting at this time is because we will have media in attendance. This is an amazing opportunity for our school and a positive way to promote our integrated ethos on a wider stage.

I understand that some parents may be reluctant for their children to participate in this event. If this is the case, please make contact with your child’s teacher early next week. If we do not hear from parents, we will assume that you are happy for your child to participate.

Pupils in Years 1&2 will finish at their normal time of 2pm. Parents will not be permitted in the grounds at this time, so teachers will bring children to the gate on Mill Road. YEAR 3 remain in school until 3pm.

We are trying to arrange the usual bus for pupils who finish at 3pm.

FINISH TIMES FOR NEXT WEEK

Please ensure that you have made arrangements to have your child collected at the correct time.

BOOK FAIR

The travelling book fair will be in school next week. We will take each class to see the books and then send information home detailing ways to order.

The school nursing team will be in school on Tuesday to facilitate the flu vaccination programme. This takes the form of a spray administered up the nose.

We are looking forward to welcoming Year 1 parents to school next Friday for a harvest assembly. As we return to some normality, we hope to have more parent events in the coming months.

After-school clubs will be starting after the Halloween break. Staff will be in touch with more details soon!

Please contact class teachers if you have any questions about elements of this Newsletter. I hope that everyone has a great Halloween break!
